Position: Mechanical Engineer

Inceed has partnered with a great company to help find a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their team!

This exciting opportunity is with a company that designs, develops, and tests mechanical components and systems. The Mechanical Engineer will play a critical role in product development, working with cross-functional teams to design and test mechanical components for electronic products. This is an excellent opportunity to apply engineering principles and contribute to a variety of projects from concept through mass production. The company is seeking an experienced individual to support the continued growth of their product offerings and ensure the reliability, quality, and manufacturability of their designs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and review process for new hardware, ensuring that mechanical components and systems meet the necessary criteria for reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, industrial design, and electrical engineering teams to develop products that are automated, ergonomic, and durable.
  • Manage the new product introduction process, including vendor sourcing, approvals, and cost management, while maintaining quality standards.
  • Recommend and implement design changes to improve product quality, manufacturability, and ease of assembly.
  • Identify and address process deficiencies, developing solutions to improve efficiency and product outcomes.
  • Provide life cycle planning, failure analysis, and troubleshooting using root cause investigation and testing.
  • Guide manufacturing teams in implementing process improvements for existing products.
  • Contribute to the development of testing protocols and methods for quality assurance and product reliability evaluation.
  • Develop 3D CAD models and part drawings, and apply DFA and DFM principles to ensure product designs are optimized for assembly and manufacturing.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to analyze the strength and durability of critical components.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on manufacturing.
  • Experience managing the full product development lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Serviceability.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Experience with FEA software like Ansys.
  • Skilled in failure analysis of plastic and metal components in electronics.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

  • Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt preferred).
  • Experience with computer-aided drop testing using FEA tools.
  • Background in the packaging of consumer and industrial electronic products.
  • Familiarity with ray trace analysis software for optical components design.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
