Position: State Tax Manager
Compensation: $100,000 – $115,000 annually, depending on experience
Location: Houston, Texas

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Manage state income/franchise tax returns and estimated payments
- Oversee quarterly and annual state tax provisions
- Perform apportionment calculations for multi-state filings
- Monitor legislative changes impacting the business
- Oversee sales & use tax compliance across states
- Manage tax configuration and product/service taxability in Avalara
- Serve as primary contact for state tax audits
- Coordinate data collection and manage audit resolution strategies
- Partner with internal teams for tax compliance and accuracy
- Implement process efficiencies and best practices
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 6+ years of state tax experience
- Hands-on experience with Avalara automation
- Strong understanding of multi-jurisdictional tax compliance
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience:
- CPA, JD, or MST
- Public accounting experience
- Experience with OneSource or Corptax
- Familiarity with ERP systems
