Position: Linux Administrator
Compensation: $90,000 -$100000 annually, depending on experience
Location: Houston, Texas
Inceed has partnered with a great company to help find a skilled Linux Administrator to join their team!
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Linux professional who enjoys hands-on system administration, troubleshooting, and supporting business-critical environments. You’ll play a key role in maintaining reliable infrastructure, improving system performance, and helping drive secure, efficient operations across Linux and Windows platforms.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Administer and support SLES and Ubuntu Server environments
- Troubleshoot server issues and review system logs
- Maintain Linux and Windows infrastructure for uptime and reliability
- Support AD, SMB, NFS, and remote drive mapping
- Install and manage software using rpm, zypper, and APT-GET
- Monitor performance using command line tools and SolarWinds
- Partner with support providers as a main point of contact
- Document solutions, share knowledge, and support team training
- Contribute to security planning and vulnerability reduction
- Assist with upgrades, maintenance, and project coordination
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of Linux administration experience
- Experience with SLES, Ubuntu, or RedHat environments
- Strong troubleshooting and systems maintenance experience
- Knowledge of VMware or Hyper-V virtualization
- Experience with Windows Server administration
- Familiarity with SAMBA/AD, NFS, and volume management
- Hands-on BASH scripting experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience:
- Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or O365
- Exposure to Microsoft SQL, Exchange, SSL, or IIS
- SAN experience with Dell EMC, Synology, or Pure
- Experience supporting mixed Linux and Windows environments
- Background in infrastructure optimization and planning
