Position: Application Developer
Compensation: $45 – $55 /hourly, depending on experience
Location: Fully Remote
Inceed has partnered with a great company to help find a skilled AS400 Application Developer to join their team!
This is a long-term contract opportunity supporting critical legacy applications in a stable, high-impact environment. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving core IBM i systems, helping keep essential operations running smoothly while supporting modernization efforts.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Maintain and enhance legacy RPG and CL applications
- Troubleshoot system issues and batch processing anomalies
- Support DB2 for i database queries and performance tuning
- Manage secure FTP and SFTP file transfer automation
- Coordinate with hosting teams on system maintenance
- Support application security and user profile administration
- Monitor job queues, subsystems, and schedulers
- Document system flows, schemas, and application dependencies
- Assist with data extraction and archival for modernization efforts
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on AS400 or IBM i experience
- Strong proficiency in RPG IV, RPGLE, CL, and SQL
- Experience working with DB2 for i
- Background in secure file transfer automation
- Experience supporting hosted or managed IBM i environments
- Knowledge of IBM i work management and security administration
- Ability to troubleshoot application and system-level issues
Nice to Have Skills & Experience:
- Experience with legacy system modernization initiatives
- Familiarity with audit logs and backup coordination
- Exposure to disaster recovery testing
- Experience documenting technical processes and dependencies
