Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Position: Joint Interest Accountant
 
Inceed has partnered with a great company to help find a skilled Joint Interest Accountant to join their team! This individual will be responsible for various aspects of joint interest billing (JIB) within an oil and gas environment. They will manage billing allocations for labor, equipment, and insurance and work closely with multiple teams to ensure that all aspects of accounting are accurately processed in accordance with COPAS guidelines. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a solid background in oil and gas accounting and who thrives in a team-based, deadline-driven setting.

Responsibilities:

• Review monthly JIB charges to ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Prepare and record monthly company labor billing according to COPAS and applicable Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs).
• Prepare and record charges related to co-owned assets.
• Collaborate with Operations to gather needed information and assist in preparing billing for newly acquired co-owned assets, as well as conducting annual reviews of company rates per COPAS guidelines.
• Prepare and record monthly insurance charges and collaborate with departments to manage the amortization of insurance policy renewals.
• Record gas buyback and geosteering costs to wells on a monthly basis.
• Review and approve monthly allocation well setup/changes.
• Prepare and record monthly drilling and operating overhead in accordance with COPAS and applicable JOAs, adjusting yearly increases or decreases as dictated by COPAS guidelines.
• Conduct monthly review of charges in suspense and staking and permitting accounts to identify charges that can be billed.
• Prepare and record entries to reclassify costs from the lease level to the AFE level when necessary.
• Participate in coordinating and responding to JIB audits.
• Assist in monthly expense reporting and analysis.
• Perform post-closing variance analysis, accruals, and reporting.
• Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned.

 
Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Three or more years of experience in oil and gas accounting, with a focus on joint interest and/or joint venture accounting and auditing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with at least three years of demonstrated experience.

 
Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

• SAP experience is preferred.
