Position:  Application Developer

Compensation: $45 – $55 /hourly, depending on experience

Location: Fully Remote

Inceed has partnered with a great company to help find a skilled AS400 Application Developer to join their team!

This is a long-term contract opportunity supporting critical legacy applications in a stable, high-impact environment. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving core IBM i systems, helping keep essential operations running smoothly while supporting modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Maintain and enhance legacy RPG and CL applications
• Troubleshoot system issues and batch processing anomalies
• Support DB2 for i database queries and performance tuning
• Manage secure FTP and SFTP file transfer automation
• Coordinate with hosting teams on system maintenance
• Support application security and user profile administration
• Monitor job queues, subsystems, and schedulers
• Document system flows, schemas, and application dependencies
• Assist with data extraction and archival for modernization efforts

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• 5+ years of hands-on AS400 or IBM i experience
• Strong proficiency in RPG IV, RPGLE, CL, and SQL
• Experience working with DB2 for i
• Background in secure file transfer automation
• Experience supporting hosted or managed IBM i environments
• Knowledge of IBM i work management and security administration
• Ability to troubleshoot application and system-level issues

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

• Experience with legacy system modernization initiatives
• Familiarity with audit logs and backup coordination
• Exposure to disaster recovery testing
• Experience documenting technical processes and dependencies
