Position: Automation Engineer

Compensation: $140,000 – $170,000 annually, depending on experience

Location: Los Angeles, California

Inceed has partnered with a great company to help find a skilled Automation Engineer to join their team!

This is a great opportunity for an experienced automation professional who wants to step into a site-level technical ownership role. You’ll support terminal operations, help guide control systems projects, and contribute to the long-term reliability of critical automation infrastructure. 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Support automation and control systems across terminal operations
• Assist with projects, migrations, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance
• Troubleshoot control system and instrumentation issues
• Work with contractors on DeltaV implementation activities
• Help develop technical designs and control system documentation
• Review vendor drawings, specifications, and test procedures
• Support HAZOP and PHA activities with I&C input
• Coordinate automation needs with operations and stakeholders
• Monitor vendor performance and project progress
• Contribute to ongoing system reliability and improvement efforts

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• 6-8 years of automation, instrumentation, or process controls experience
• Experience in petrochemical, refining, oil & gas, or terminal environments
• Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS systems
• Experience with Rockwell PLC hardware and software
• Knowledge of SIS systems and industrial automation practices
• Strong troubleshooting and system support skills
• Ability to work onsite and support emergency off-hours needs
• Ability to obtain a TWIC badge
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• Liquid storage terminal experience
• Wonderware experience
• Toptech experience
• CCTV system experience
• Construction, commissioning, and installation experience
• Knowledge of ISA 88, ISA 95, and IEC61511
• Familiarity with tank gauging systems
• Exposure to OT cybersecurity and IT/OT convergence

Other Information:

• This is a primarily onsite role with limited remote flexibility
• Travel is mainly between nearby terminal locations
• Typical start time is early morning
• On-call support may be needed for emergencies
