Position: Payroll Accountant

Compensation: $ 36 – 40 /hour, depending on experience

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma

Inceed has partnered with a great company to help find a skilled Payroll Accountant to join their team!

This is a strong contract-to-hire opportunity for a payroll accounting professional who enjoys detailed reconciliation work, journal entries, and process improvement. The team is navigating a period of change and needs someone who can step in quickly, support a lean accounting group, and make an immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly journal entries
• Update payroll files and general ledger records
• Review payroll ledgers and resolve exception items
• Reconcile tax and unemployment liability accounts
• Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax reports
• Research payroll and tax reporting issues
• Support audits with records and documentation
• Analyze payroll data for trends and anomalies
• Recommend process and control improvements
• Support payroll accounting projects and reporting needs

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Strong payroll accounting knowledge
• Understanding of wage and hour laws
• Knowledge of employer-paid benefit taxation
• Experience with payroll information systems
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• High attention to detail and confidentiality
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

• Experience with Workday, Oracle, or Kronos
• Multi-state payroll accounting experience
• International payroll experience
• CPP or CPA certification
• Experience at a large, complex organization
