Data Engineer
Responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, data marts, master data solutions, and business intelligence models. Works within established software development lifecycle (SDLC) standards and best practices to deliver reliable, scalable, and business-focused data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Development
- Design, develop, modify, troubleshoot, and maintain automated data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Connect to and extract data from a variety of internal and external data sources and perform data analysis to determine data quality, structure, and suitability for business requirements.
- Develop automated processes to extract, cleanse, transform, validate, and integrate data for reporting, analytics, and operational use.
- Consolidate data from multiple sources to establish consistent and trusted sources of truth for key business entities such as customers, locations, products, employees, and transactions.
- Develop automated data quality monitoring, validation, and alerting processes to identify and resolve data issues.
- Design, model, and publish curated datasets for use by reporting, analytics, and business intelligence applications.
- Develop and maintain business intelligence data models using tools such as SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), Power BI, or similar technologies.
- Utilize SQL, T-SQL, C#, ETL tools, data profiling tools, master data management (MDM) technologies, and other programming and development tools as required.
- Follow established development standards, coding practices, security requirements, documentation standards, and SDLC processes.
- Participate in architecture, design, code reviews, testing, implementation, and deployment activities.
- Coordinate technical development efforts across development, data, infrastructure, and third-party teams when necessary.
- Assist with technical requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, technical debt management, and prioritization of development work.
- Lead technical troubleshooting efforts and coordinate cross-functional teams during critical production issues.
- Provide technical guidance and support for applications, data platforms, infrastructure, and related technology solutions.
Technical Support
- Provide technical support for data pipelines, data platforms, reporting solutions, and business intelligence applications.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues using strong problem-solving, analytical, and customer service skills.
- Investigate recurring issues, perform root-cause analysis, and develop permanent technical solutions to reduce recurrence and severity.
- Monitor support trends and analyze incoming issues to identify opportunities for system, process, or training improvements.
- Accurately document incidents, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and customer feedback in support tracking systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, knowledge articles, and training materials.
- Gather user feedback and recommendations to identify opportunities for product and system improvements.
- Participate in on-call and 24×7 support activities as required.
